Welcome to the Santa Fe CAN (Community Association & Neighbors) Education Committee school campaign page!
In 2012 the Oakland Unified School District closed Santa Fe Elementary School in the heart of the Santa Fe district of Northwest Oakland leaving extremely limited school options for families living across the Santa Fe, Golden Gate, and Longfellow neighborhoods.
In 2013, neighbors started organizing to see the Santa Fe school site returned to a community public school to serve the growing number of young children living in the area and to serve as a hub for important community projects and services.

The Santa Fe Community Association & Neighbors (Santa Fe CAN) is seeking collaborators to develop a high-quality and accessible school in our North Oakland neighborhood. We are looking for teachers, administrators, education organizations, Oakland public schools, and current school and non-profit leaders to help us design an innovative new school program for all families in our community.”
